Who Should Carry Taser Guns?

I am pretty sure that the vast majority of citizens in this country have heard of being "Tasered," and there is a growing number that have also felt the shocking consequences of being harpooned by this nifty little weapon.
Most have conveyed the idea that being Tasered is no "walk in the park." If this little "Star Trek" looking piece gets its barbs into your skin, there is no doubt that you are going down for the count.

These "new technology" devices are not toys and they should be respected for their ability to temporarily disable even the toughest opponent you may face.

So the question needs to be asked.
Since Tasers have such shock value, extreme take-down power, and the potential to seriously harm, disable, or even kill a perpetrator, should just anyone on the street be allowed carry Taser Guns as a personal self-defense weapon? Or, Should they be carried and used only by trained professionals, security guards, and law enforcement? What if they get into the wrong hands? Even though a security background check is mandatory to purchase one of these weapons, someone could use it irresponsibly for "non-life-threatening" altercations such as street fights, or as a novelty device to use as a prank.

Do people really understand the seriousness of using a so called "less lethal," or "non-lethal" weapon like a Taser Gun? Some states have actually banned or restricted their use by the ordinary citizenry.
Granted times are becoming increasingly more violent along with more serious consequences for victims of crimes against the person, but you really need to think it out before you jump into a Taser.
Indeed, many are joining the ranks of those now who realize that it is no longer safe on or off the streets these days.
Because of the sad shape of the economy and deepening recession, more than ever criminals are determined, bold, and down-right fierce in order to take something from you.

Because of this trend and the potential harm people know they could sustain, citizens are now arming themselves with some serious weaponry.

I really don't blame them at all! Yet even though I am in agreement with the idea of carrying an equalizer with you for the right reasons, I would suggest that people first do a little soul-searching before buying, carrying, and ultimately using a Taser on anyone. To be more specific, unless buying one for yourself is ONLY to protect against a serious threat of bodily harm (including sexual assault and rape) or death, then it is likely your motives will get you in trouble with the law yourself. The reason for concern is due to a variety of sources now reporting and some have confirmed, that the voltage delivered from these devices can actually stop one's heart if it disrupts the heartbeat pattern at just the right time (just the right person as well) between beats.
BUT..
.
on the other hand, in support of the "less lethal - non-lethal" classification (In favor of carrying Taser weapons), we should also consider that among those victims who had lethal results, some had pre-existing conditions, certain weaknesses, or other circumstances that put them at greater risk of serious harm or death. So we would do well to ask ourselves "in advance" of actively carrying a Taser, whether or not we even want to shoulder that heavy responsibility.
If you carry or you are thinking about carrying (and using) such a weapon with an intent "other than" of using it for actual self defense, then don't do it.

You could (in some cases) have the unwelcome power over life and death especially as it relates to the victims (Criminals) with risk factors? On the other hand, does the extremely small percentage of those who are actually susceptible to this risk (to be seriously hurt or killed by a Taser) make it wrong for ordinary citizens to carry one to use against the "criminal majority" not at risk? I feel strongly that the possibility of death by Taser is a risk that the "perpetrator" of the crime should assume and not the unprotected citizen who has everything to lose, especially if they do not carry a Taser or other defense weapon to protect themselves.
In reality, anyone (the criminal) who is trying to defy the law so blatantly and violently, has to be willing to take that chance (of lethal results) if they choose to be a serious threat and an obvious menace to society. At least by carrying a Taser you're not trying to fill them full of lead bullets which does frequently lead to certain death? The criminal's resolve to do harm to you, has wrongful and malicious intent and you are the innocent victim when a perpetrator wrongfully assails you in this case.
So do not worry about the remote possibility of a Taser causing a perpetrator's death unintentionally.

Actually,"far worse" consequences (also including death) could befall YOU if you DO NOT at least try to defend yourself with a some kind of serious defense weapon. So if you think that there is a good chance; or even a remote chance that someone may one day want to do grievous bodily harm or kill you, then by all means carry a Taser (if your state allows) and use it responsibly.
The life you save will likely be your own.
